From Spain: Milan to bid for Cavani
Securing Champions League football next year would be a clear sign that AC Milan are back but also would allow Fassone to prepare quietly next summer’s big hit.
It was long talked about a possible big signing in attack from the rossoneri in the last summer transfer window. A top player that should have been the concluding piece of Fassone-Mirabelli’s shopping campaign. Despite attempts for an international level bomber like Alvaro Morata, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Diego Costa, Milan eventually had to settle for Nikola Kalinic after having invested heavily on 21-year old Andre Silva. The big name striker did not arrive, although the two reinforcements are certainly of a very high standard.
Based on the performance that AC Milan strikers will have this season, the club will then decide on the strategies in the next summer shopping campaign. It is not excluded that with a possible Champions qualification in the pocket, the red and blacks will be capable to get the top player so much sought after.
According to rumors regarding Milan’s mercato from the Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo, the rossoneri are on the list of contenders to reach Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan striker is also chased by Chelsea, Juventus, Everton and Borussia Dortmund. The former Napoli is experiencing a period of strong tension at Paris Saint Germain after the recent quarrel with Neymar for a penalty kick they both wanted to kick.
According to suggestions Cavani at the end of the season will leave PSG and will decide to search for a new adventure. Furthermore PSG will probably be forced to sell him to comply with the Financial Fair Play. Even though this track is quite complicated chances of success are considerable as the player for years has wanted to return in Italy. The 30 year old South American is very attached to Napoli and therefore will hardly want to dress a different shirt, “betraying” so many fans still in his heart. Obviously we know that these arguments in today’s football do not always count for much and several transfers in recent history have proven us right. Cavani started negotiations with the rossoneri last February but due too the much delayed closing everything failed and he decided to renew his current contract. Negotiations may restart soon. Anyway, in September talking about Cavani is premature for so many reasons. There is an entire season to face and for such hits we have to wait.
